About the Jean Monnet program


The Jean Monnet program was established and launched by the European Commission in 1990. The goal of the program is to propagate the European wide education of economics, law, politics and history, to introduce innovative policies to the European education system and to establish a system of financial support. The following institutes  take part in the initiative: European Commission and National Rectors Conference of the Member States. In order to implement the program the following instruments are used:  Jean Monnet Professors, Continous Development, European Modules, Doctoral Scholarships and Learning Materials.

The book on 'The Environmental Jurisprudence of the European Court of Justice' was published recently with the support of the EC Commission's support program.

February 2008

More chapters of the book are complete and ready for editing and translation: like the introductory chapter, the chapters about the authorities and about different legal institutions.

August 2007

The preparations for the book, studying and introducing the environmental case law of the ECJ and the organisation of the compiled cases had begun.

20 June 2007

We upgraded the home page with the dominating case law of the European Court of Justice in the environmental field, provisionally classified by subject matter.

23 April 2007

The English homepage of the Jean Monnet Programme has been published.

27 March 2007

The preparatory activities related to the three year program had begun (collegtion of ECJ cases, selection and grouping them in order to fit into our system of legal instruments, launching seminar related to ECJ cases and implementation of EU environmental law etc.).

Second semester of 2006

The Department of Environmental and Competition Law of the Pázmány Péter Catholic University obtained the honourable title ‘Jean Monnet Chair’.
